HOW TO CALCULATE EFFECTIVE GATE WEIGHT AND CHOOSE A HINGE TO SUIT
Hinge capacity ratings are based on a square gate. A 100kg gate 2.0m wide with hinges 2.0m apart needs two hinges each rated at 100kg. A wider gate needs hinges rated more than the gate weight. This is where the Effective Gate Weight is critical. E.g.. 100kg gate 2.0m high, hinges 1.0m apart has an EGW of 160kg.

RISING HINGE KIT
When you have to consider a gate that opens uphill you normally only have one other option - outswing and it is a much better option but most local shire councils are not too keen on the idea. Rising gates have extra strain applied to your hardware and automation meaning more regular maintenance is required and careful attention to quality components is essential. These rising hinge sets (top and bottom) can be coupled with motor kits like the PR24 using rising adaptor kits. Comes in left and right hand gate versions when looking from inside.
